Mary, Mary, quite contrary,
How does your garden grow?
With silver bells, and cockle shells,
And pretty maids all in a row.

I'm usually the first to really enjoy ironic consequences... However 'murder' is stretching it a little. For one thing, who would know? Tiffany never saw it as anything more then a part of her, not an individual... and it was established that the 'thing' was irrevocably destroyed leaving nothing. Dead things tell no tells. This was in all likelihood, exactly what Mary intended... so that the thing would not re-infect anyone else, and use them as agents of her own destruction.

That only leaves Mary herself with the knowledge, and I don't think she saw it as a person... just a thing. Probably rightly so, as that 'thing' would/could have encouraged Tiffany to darker paths in her future life.

So I disagree it was an act of murder...

As for Mary's personality... not much was established before hand, but what we know of her now... I'd class her as probably one of the stronger transformed creatures. Her true form, was only pierced by Haru, who was scared half to death of what she saw- and she's one of the good ones.

She gives out very little of what she is like- except for her demand for excellence in her students... she is reluctant to use any of her strong abilities (which have not been established or seen) and is content to let the world work itself out, intervening very rarely.

She seems to be a very moral upstanding person, who believes others must come to their own conclusions. She is a teacher not just in a classroom but everywhere she goes. (think like a female professor Xavier if that helps- but one that's far more hidden and helpful and lacks vast wealth.)

Mary again...
