"I Think I See You"

by Raven Blackmane

Sometimes I lie awake at night,
Looking out at countless stars,
And then I think I see You.

Sometimes I see the morning come,
The sun rise over distant hills,
And then I think I see You.

Sometimes I see an eagle fly
Or watch a rising flock of birds,
And then I think I see You.

Sometimes I see the autumn leaves,
The forest turn from green to gold,
And then I think I see You.

Every day my mind is told
Of miracles a thousandfold
By eyes that cannot hope for comprehension
The smallest cell, in myst'ry shrouded,
Lifts its voice to mock aloud
At all the foolishness of man's pretensions.

Sometimes I hear a child laugh,
A voice bubbling with shining joy,
And then I think I hear You.

Sometimes I hear a wolf pack howl,
Raise its song in praise to You,
And then I think I hear You.

Sometimes I hear the crashing waves
Pounding as they reach the shore,
And then I think I hear You.

Sometimes I hear a love-song sung
Two hearts expressing their devotion,
And then I think I hear You.

As thunder rolls and oceans roar
They speak of nature's power in store,
But compared to You, their voice is but a whisper.
And yet You come so quietly,
In songs of love and words of peace,
That speak of what You'd give if we would listen.

Sometimes I watch a loved one die,
A life that ends too suddenly,
And I wonder if I'll see You.

Sometimes my heart is filled with doubts,
My life feels like it's lost its course,
And I ask why I can't hear You.

Sometimes the world grows far too cruel
And I see no sign of hope or love,
And I wish that we could see You.

Sometimes the ones we trust betray us
And our whole world flips upside-down
And I think we'll never see You.

But then a voice inside me grows,
Reminding me how much you know
The pain and torment that we face down here.
And You have planned a better way,
For soon we'll be with You to stay--
In Heaven, free from sadness, want, and fear!

And then

I know

I'll see You.
