I have... I ... I got in the mail just today the comic... by Scotty Arsenault... Heebas! It's sooo good and cool and and... I have parts 1, 7, 8, 9 and 10. ;.; Parts 2-6 and the conclusion are on order, and it'll take six weeks before they come in! I'm dying here... I tried not to look at them really I did. Just the barest of glances, and reading through part 1. I so love Scotty Arsenault's art, plus his sense of story and drama, he's just keen! It really is rare I find a comic that I like, and almost never one that touches me so, it's so exciting, but so hard to wait. I shoulda ordered both batches at once, not the first one to see if the comic's any good, and the second one afterwards. So now I gotta wait. But--Marble! And... Heebas! And Reeba and uh... whatsisname... rat guy... geez, I'm bad with names. He's just the rich fop who precognized Reeba's birth just like Marble, albeit more... knowingly. I smell a reincarnation loop in the near future.
*sighs* And Scotty's latest work, "Commander Kitty" is a great comic and all. Very zany and wacky, his humor and plot twistiness at its best. It's good and all but... I dunno. Just not quite the same magic as Heebas. Heebas looks so normal, so everyday, yet somehow reaches beyond it to capture our sense of wonder. Kitty looks weird from the outset, and has some stereotyped 'rude toons' aspects to it, though occasionally shines through with a brilliance in a single panel or momentary pause. I'm not saying Scotty has to do 100% genius every day, but I really hope he's not having trouble with CK because it's more catering to popular shock value, instead of drawing what he resonates with. And speaking of popular, I do wish him the best of luck turning the durn Commander Kitty thing into an animated series. Frankly I'd rather see 7 rooms filled with comic books than 1 animated series that prevented those comics from being drawn due to time constraints. On the other hand, animation is getting easier these days if you're wealthy, or have wealthy backers. And backers support shallow, popular shock value these days, heh.
