I have a problem with that...Episode submitted by Burke_Rakers on Mon Feb 2 07:39:58 2004 Return to Parent Episode I just wanted to see if Kevin had added to my post yet. Then I walk into this. I don't have a problem with the post itself...but rather that a mortal man is trying to shame me (or should I say us)...by "Copy/Paste"ing the Book of Revelations into a post then actualy having the nerve to sign yourself "God" Now THAT'S arrogant. That's not to say that I don't consider myself a Christian , but I don't think that the accepted idea of God as our "Angry Father" is correct. It just...doesn't feel right. You have to read between the lines when you sit down with the bible. I feel that much of it has been "Corrupted" (if I may use that phrase) by mortals who've tainted the basic message with their own views and opinions. I hope I don't get drowned in a sea of hate mail for this, but I firmly believe that the being we call "God" (and others call the "Goddess", though I don't realy believe that this being has a true gender) is actualy the same being who most people worship, only distorted by their "Cultural Lens" into an image that they can accept. Strange as it sounds (and I get some harsh words) I believe in a more tolerant "Hellenic" view of religion. Just as the Greeks could look at the Egyptian, Roman or Celtic gods and see their own gods reflected back, I tend to believe that the prayers of a good Christian, Jew, Moslem or Hindu all wind up going to the same being. Hmmm...Does that sound a bit...wishy-washy? Maybe...but it feels right. An answer... Hellinistic | |
