"Let me see it, Jon." He opened his hand to reveal what looked like a stone found along a riverbank, smooth and shiny. She grabbed it from him. "Mom, I don't think you want to do that." "Do what?" "Well, I mean, things are already messed up anyway." "What do you mean?" "Well, just look at what you're wearing, first of all." She looked down at herself. "What's wrong with what I'm wearing? Don't you like this outfit?" Outfit? It just occured to Jon that he could just switch her clothing with something else. But it was too late. His mother was just about to make a wish with the stone.
