"How do I alter the future from here?" "Presumably, you travel to another time and change things there." "Why didn't you just go there, then?" asked Karyn. "Because I didn't know which time he went to. I wasn't with him." "I wasn't with Jon?" Karyn said. She turned to Jon. "You were gonna dump me and use the stone by yourself?" "What? No. Of course not. Anyway, I haven't done it yet. How do you know it wasn't an accident?" Jon asked the older Karyn. "Because I was there." "Well. Um. There must have been a good reason for it." "There was. You didn't want me around. And thanks to your meddling of time, the future is a nightmare." She turned to Karyn. "I came back to make sure that nightmare never happens." The woman took out a hand gun and pointed it at Jon. "I've gone through 15 years of hell just to get here. And I'm not going back to that existence." The stone helps | |
