She couldn't hear what Sarah was saying, but it couldn't have been too nice. Sarah was apparently insulting some less dorky girl. Sarah's friends were laughing at the marginal geek. "What a norm!" Even though everyone was a nerd, some were nerdier than others. And even the equally nerdy didn't necessarily get along. Jon and Karyn noticed that the same old cliques were still intact, though the details had changed. Now the school was split along different lines: Star Trek vs. Babylon 5, PC vs. Mac ... Sarah and her ex-cheerleader pals were into games ... role-playing games. They'd never invite Jon and Karyn to play. Those two just weren't nerdy enough. "The town's nicer," said Jon. "But ..."
