Jon looked at a tree. Was that tree there before? Was it even possible to know, since the stone changed all of reality, even Jon's memories?

Belatedly, Jon realized that it just wasn't possible to look around to figure out what the thief had used the stone to change. The only way to know would be to compare it to some record of it that hadn't changed. But where could Jon get a...

Of course!

Jon ran back into the house and logged into the computer. The Internet was world-wide, but the stone's wishes had a limited range. Anything of Jon's that was stored on a computer somewhere else would be out of the range of the stone--such as Jon's livejournal account, or Google Mail, or Myspace page, or that Youtube video that Jon had briefly appeared in with some friends... and Jon's geeky friend Richard Parson had helped back up the files just the other day, copying the files to Jon's home computer and onto a CD.

Quickly, Jon downloaded the mail, personal information, video, and other files, brought them up on the screen, and compared them to the same files from the CD. If, for instance, someone had changed Jon's hair color, the CD would show the new color (since reality changed, including the CD), but the files from computers outside the wish range, would still show Jon's hair as it really used to be.

Still, upon comparing them, Jon was surprised to find out that originally....
