On their way to the parking lot, the rumbling stopped.

"Stop the car!" Sarah yelled out.

Karyn slammed on the brakes. "What? What is it?"

"It's Jon. Look!"

They all looked to their right. Just down the street, they saw Jon walking across, seeming to be in a hurry.

Karyn turned right and drove towards him.

"Jon!"

He turned around, surprised. "Karyn?" He looked through the car windows and also saw Zoe and Sarah. "What ... how ... how did you get here?"

"I improvised. Come on, get in."

"No, my grandfather is here. He needs help. He's been hurt."

"I thought your grandfather was dead," Karyn said.

"So did I. But he is here."

"Okay, we'll wait here until you come back."

Jon looked nervous. "Maybe that's not such a good idea."

"What do you mean?"

"I can't really explain right now. Just," he looked behind him and pointed to the other side of the street, "park over there. I'll be right back. Okay?"

"Okay."

Karyn parked the car in front of the building Jon specified, while Jon ran in to find his grandfather.
