What a nice girl, she thought. I wish my son could be little more like her. She still held the rock in her hand, but fortunately she was only thinking a wish and not actually saying it out loud.

Unfortunately, she did say the next thing out loud: "That Karyn is a sweet girl, but I think she could be prettier," she said. "Why couldn't she be more like those other girls at school, like Sarah? I just wish Karyn had more in common with that Sarah girl."
