"I wish that the dominant species on this planet would be instead descended from lizards ... unless Jon and I decide we don't like it." Jon glared at her. "That's your great wish?" he said. A flash emanated from the stone and hung in the air, giving everything a glaring, washed out, and weakened appearance. The stone blinked. Instead of answering Jon's question, Karyn asked a question of her own. "Why isn't anything happening?" "You gave it a tall order. Maybe it needs a minute."
