"Jon, I'm so sorry," she said, thinking that he was calling because of the change. "What are you sorry about?" Jon acted confused. "Well, because you're now a Caucasian." "Mom? Are you okay?" "Huh?" "When was ever not a Caucasian?" Mrs. Parker was getting confused herself. "Listen, Mom. I just called to tell you that I'm gonna eat with Karyn here at the mall. I'll be home later. Okay?" "Uh, sure." "Thanks. Bye, Mom." Mrs. Parker put down the phone. Apparently, Jon didn't even notice that anything was different. But how could that be? | |
