"Sorry, honey," her mom said. "I just wish you liked being a girl more than a boy. That way ..." The stone glowed. "Oops. I didn't mean to use the stone again."

"That's okay, Mom," the female Jon said. "I do want to be a girl now."

"Really?" her mom said, not realizing that her new daughter's response may have come about because of her wish.

"Yeah. I'm different now. Once I didn't want to be a girl, but now I really do."

(Since the stone doesn't change memories of the people who hear the wish, only Jon's present desires would change--he'd want to be a girl now, but would not remember having always wanted to be one.)
