Automatically, he picked it up. It was his mom. "Hello?" Jon asked, clenching at his new voice, which he'd possibly have for the rest of his life. "It's me, Jon. I'm coming home." "Did you find the stone?" His mom paused for a second. "How do you know about the stone? I thought I ..." She trailed off. "What did you say?" "Nothing. I ... I haven't found it yet. But who knows? It might just pop up anywhere. Anyway, I'll be home soon. Bye, Jon." "Bye." ------ Sherry put away her cellphone and looked at the stone in her hand. How come Jon still knows about the stone? Didn't I wish that he'd forget? she thought to herself. "I wish to know why Jon still remembers the stone," she said. And she got her answer. Jon made a wish (before Sherry had found the stone) to always remember the wishing stone. It was a precaution, in case someone tried to erase his memory of it. "Well, that's answered.
