Thinking quickly, Karyn slugged Jon's mom right in the face. She dropped to the ground with a thump.

Jon, who was still doubled over, looked up at Karyn. "What the hell did you do that for?!"

"It's the only thing I could do, Jennie," she replied, taking the stone out of Jon's mom's hand. "We can just use the stone to erase her memory. She'll never know that I punched her."

Jon struggled to get to his feet, gently cupping his hurt breast. "Maybe you should give it to me."

Karyn looked at Jon, then at the stone. "Nah, I think I know what to wish for."

"Karyn, don't. Don't make things worse."

But she didn't listen. "I wish ..."
