Before the mysterious shadowy figure had delivered the Solo Stone into Jon's possession, they had used it to make a wish. A wish about Jon. Poor Jon, who was probably not present and definitely asleep at the time, could not know the effects of the wish nor think they were anything out of the ordinary. Nor could he know the cause of what would happen when he next used the wishing rock, unaware as he was of the Solo Stone's laws.
