She held the stone tightly, believing she would never touch it again. She didn't deserve to. And soon she'd be completely unable to. "I wish I were like Jon and Karyn." The world shimmered. When the light dissipated, Jon and Karyn could barely recognize Zoe. They expected her to be handless in a wheelchair, and she was. They didn't imagine that she wouldn't be a Goth anymore. How could she put on jewelry without hands? How could she pick up the stone and make things better? "That's just great," grumbled Jon. "Now we're all helpless until Mom comes back."
