What have I told you about going into my stuff?" "What, Mommy?" said Brittney, not understanding. "Your grandfather left me this stone! It's not for little girls like you." Because the stone changed things so that Brittney really was Kelly's twin, as long as Brittney was "dressed like this". Of course, in a world where Brittney was five years old, Jon's grandfather was now the grandfather of five year old Brittney. And he never would have given the stone to someone five years old. Instead, he gave it to his daughter--their mother. Their mother had tried the stone a little bit, but only enough to see that it worked. Still, there were things she had always wanted.
