It might be hard to deal with the other kids' opinions of them, and the adults' expectations of Great Things from them. On the other hand, it had to be better than repeating nine years of school... "Yes," Emily said. "We'll stick with the plan." Kirsten (formerly Ken) nodded. "All right," she said. "I wish that Jon and Karyn, despite their physical age, were juniors in high school." There was no visible change, of course, but everybody paused a moment, as if waiting for something to happen. "Okay," Kirsten said, "any last requests before we wrap this up?" | |
