When Jim talked to Rebecca that evening, he brought up the prospective double date. Unsurprisingly, she was unenthused about a date involving her brother. Jim was pretty insistent about going, though, saying that it would definitely end up being worthwhile. "Please," he begged her, "This is as much for your benefit as mine. Let's just go and try to have a good time, even if it means mostly ignoring Rick and Brandi. I admit, I'm not sure it'll be fun, but I do think it's worth doing."

They talked about it a bit more, with Rebecca finally capitulating when he agreed that they'd do something earlier in the day with just the two of them. It didn't take much effort to get Jim to agree to that condition.

Thursday and Friday were much the same as Monday and Tuesday, with a lot of boredom at school, and a long talk at night. The main difference was that Rick was very excited about Saturday, and kept thanking Jim.
