"What are you doing?" Charlie asked.

"What does it look like?" Matt asked. "I'm scanning the device. Maybe it can help us out of this."

After a moment or two, Charlie was becoming antsy. "Well? What does it do?"

"Wait. I'm still scanning it. This isn't a toaster, you know." Matt stared down at his "watch" a few seconds longer and then said "Okay, I know what it does."

"Well?" Amy asked. "Tell us."
