"Oh, no you don't," Athena said, jumping at the stranger.

The man lost his concentration and Jon fell to the floor with a thump.

"Get off me, you bitch!" the man yelled, trying to pull away from Athena.

"Get out of here!" she yelled at Jon and Karyn. "I can't hold him for long!"

Jon got to his feet and grabbed hold of Karyn, then he quickly pulled her outside into the hallway.

"Jon, what's going on?" Karyn asked. "Who was that guy? How did he ..."

"No time for questions now," Jon said. "Come on."

When they left the building, Karyn shook herself free. "Where are you going? We have class, remember?"

"Karyn, I can't explain all of this right now. We're in danger," Jon said. "Now, come on." He pulled her again, but she struggled away.

"No, Jon. I don't know what's gotten into you, but I'm going to class. The last thing I need is detention." Then she walked back inside.

"Karyn!"
