"I was just, uh, wondering when J ... I mean, Karyn was going to stop by," Karyn said.

"Karyn?" Jon's mom asked. "Isn't she coming over at the same time she usually does?"

"Uh, yeah."

What a relief. For a moment there, she thought Jon's mother wouldn't know who Karyn was (it was so weird for her to think of herself in the third person). But since she did, this was looking more and more like a body swap. Which meant that Jon wasn't really gone, just inside her body. Hmm, maybe that's not such a good thing after all, she thought, imagining what Jon could be doing with her body.

"Jon. Are you okay, honey?" Jon's mom asked Karyn. "You seem a little ... different. You know, not like yourself."

That's an understatement, Karyn thought.
