"How can she take that?" she asked Sarah, not really expecting an answer. "God, I wish that Karyn would get what she deserves for doing that to Zoe," she said, forgetting she was holding a wishing stone. Sarah mentally shouted a warning, but her mouth didn't open in time. The stone flashed, but nothing immediately seemed to happen. Then, as they watched, Karyn, starting to walk away, slipped in the puddle she herself had created and fell flat on her butt. Sarah and Melissa joined in the laughter. But then Sarah looked at Melissa. "Do you know what you could have done?" She said. "You could have killed her, or turned her into a monster or something..." The implications dawned on Melissa. She didn't like Karyn, but she didn't to kill anyone. She handed the stone back to Sarah, who stuck it in its box and back in her bookbag.
