Then he called Karyn for a rematch. "What do you mean you can't do it now?" Jon whined over the phone. "My mom just finished making dinner, Jon. I can't leave to go out jogging. Plus, after dinner I have to do my homework. I think we'll have to postpone until tomorrow after school." "No way, Karyn. We can't postpone it. I'd have to go to school like this." "Relax, Jon. It's only one school day. And after you jog the two miles, everything will be back to normal." "But ... everyone will see me with these huge melons." "Suck it up, Jon." She paused, then said "See you tomorrow. Bye." Jon dropped his cellphone and collapsed onto his bed, terrified of what he would have to go through in the next twenty-four hours. | |
