You worry too much," the other man said. Jon and Karyn heard a door open and a bunch of footsteps. "Mrs. Kavanaugh," the second man said. "This is Walter Donovan. He's ..." "Cut the pleasantries," an old woman said. Presumably, she was the one called Kavanaugh. "We came here for the artifact. Do you have it?" "Right here," Donovan said. Jon and Karyn still couldn't see, but they assumed that Donovan gave Mrs. Kavanaugh the stone. "Excellent," Mrs. Kavanaugh said. "Now, I can have anything I want." "Huh?" Donovan asked. Apparently he and the other guy didn't know what they had. Perhaps they just thought it was a rare stone. In a way, though, they were right. "I wish ..." Mrs. Kavanaugh began to say, not realizing that the stone didn't work the way it was supposed to. Forget About the Stone | |
