"The Feeders are vampires," Kara began to explain. "The Techheads are cyborgs, the Griffs are human-animal hybrids, and the Femmes are seductive women who used to be men."

"Which one are you?" I asked.

As she removed her cloak and her outerwear, she said "I'm a Feeder. And the moment I saw you, I knew you would be an excellent source of life for me."

I slowly backed away from her. "I thought you were trying to help me, to keep me safe."

"I am," she said, with a smile. "I need you to be in perfect condition. That's when human blood is at its best, you know."

What had I gotten myself into? Suddenly, I felt that I'd rather take my chances with the spheres.

I looked behind me for a moment, making sure I wouldn't trip over any furniture as I was backing away. And that's when Kara leapt into the air and pounced on me. She opened her mouth, revealing her fangs for the first time.
