She didn't recognize the number. "Hello?" she said. "Somebody took the wishing stone," a boy's voice said. Karyn frowned. The what? "What? Wishing stone? Who is this?" "Jon." "Jon who?" A loud noise came over the phone, like it had been dropped. "Hello? If this is a prank call, it isn't very funny." "Sorry, umm...wrong number." He hung it up. Karyn's best friend looked at her. "Who was that?" "Weird. He said his name was Jon and was talking about a wishing stone." "There's a Jon at school. He's a freshman. You know, Zoe Madison's little brother. You used to be friendly with her, right?" "No, wrong Goth. I was friendly with Stephanie Wright before she went Goth. Zoe and I have been in the same class a few times." She paused, thinking about it. "You're right. Her brother's name is Jon. Maybe he did have a wrong number." "What about the wishing stone thing?" "Probably from some video game," Karyn said.
