Not really thinking, Linda grabbed the lid of the vial and was about to open it again, but just as her thumb touched the lid, she heard the phone begin to ring. And that pulled her out of her momentary trance.

What was wrong with her? She shook her head and put the vial back in the drawer, which she then closed, and headed out of her daughter's bedroom and down the stairs to grab the phone before whoever was calling hung up.

She'd have to have a serious talk with Wendy when she came back home after school.
