"I ... uh ... I'm a friend of Jon's," he said, thinking up a believable lie quickly. "Is Jon here?" Mikey asked. "Yes. I mean, no. I mean, he was," Jon said. Mikey looked a little confused. "He said he'd be back and told me to wait here," Jon said, continuing to lie. "Oh. Okay," Mikey said, then walked past Jon and down the stairs. Once he got to the bottom of the stairs, he turned and looked up at Jon. "You want something to drink?" "Uh, sure," Jon said, then followed his little brother down the stairs and into the kitchen. | |
