Dinner's ready." When there was no answer, she opened the door and walked in, only to find her daughter lying down on her bed, asleep. But when she moved closer to wake her up, she saw that her daughter wasn't actually asleep at all, because her eyes were still open. "Honey?" she asked, growing more concerned. There was a cellphone in Karyn's hand. Bethany grabbed it and put it up to her ear. "Is anyone there?" she asked into the phone. She thought she heard a noise coming from the other end, but she wasn't sure. She looked back at Karyn and grew even more worried. It was like her daughter was in a trance or something.
