On their way, they spotted a couple of their friends who were also on the cheerleading squad: Melissa Smith and Jessica Davis. "Hey, girls," Karyn said, smiling as she approached them. Melissa turned and looked at Karyn and Jon, but then frowned. "Do I know you?" Karyn was confused. "Of course you know us. We're your friends." "Yeah," Jon said. "Wait a minute. You're that Karyn girl," Jessica said. She looked at Jon. "I don't know you, but ..." She turned back towards Karyn. "You're Karyn Black, the tomboy girl." "Tomboy? What the hell are you talking about? I'm no tomboy." What Karyn and Jon hadn't realized yet was that the effects of the salt shaker didn't change reality in the same way as the stone. Karyn and Jon may have thought that they were supposed to be cheerleaders, but that was only because they were directly affected by the salt. Everyone else's memories remained the same, as they were before the salt was used. | |
