She was on the job, after all. She looked at the boy in the female clothes and took it all in stride. Certainly, there was nothing odd about him. But he was clearly confused and concerned about her presence there. "Don't call the police," she said. "I have a good reason for being in your house." That sounded strange for a moment, like it should have been her house too, but that was ridiculous, right? She didn't live here. She lived ... in an apartment downtown.
