Why wouldn't she be wearing her business suit and tie? She was on her way to work, after all. She looked at the boy in the female clothes and took it all in stride. Certainly, there was nothing odd about him. But he was clearly confused and concerned about her presence there. "Don't call the police," she said. "I have a good reason for being in your house." That sounded strange for a moment, like it should have been her house too, but that was ridiculous, right? She didn't live here. She lived ... in a house a couple blocks away. Why was it so hard to remember that? She shook her head, then turned her attention back towards the boy. Jon crossed his arms across his chest and said "I'm waiting." Then Linda explained. she's his lawyer. | |
