And suddenly I knew. I was on a planet several light years from Earth. A previous owner of the rock had created the place over a hundred years ago as a place to send people/things wished to disappear. And he had named it the Land of Things that Disappear ...

"I wish I had a book of information on this place."

I looked back to the table and saw a book sitting beside the lantern. A massive tome which suggested this would be an interesting place to explore. "I wish this table were inside a structure that would keep it safe from any danger to be expected here."

A few seconds of disorientation ... and I found myself standing on the deck of a boat. A coast guard motor lifeboat; I realized after a moment. With a very large anchor on the end of a chain extending ahead of its bow.

I opened the book and found the section on tides. Well; forty foot tides explains the boat.

Then I thought of Karyn. She must think I'm gone for good! "I wish I was back in Karyn's yard."
