AngusSpecies: BadgerCreator: Charles MatthiasAngus is captain of the guard for Glen Avery. He takes his role very seriously, and is often overbearing when training new scouts and soldiers. He like sot make them practice with broadswords until they get the idea to ask for weapons better suited to them. Really does not like being called 'Sir'. He also carves wood figurine sin his spare time, but he never saves them. |

Avery, AngelaSpecies: Grey SquirrelCreator: Charles MatthiasLady Angela Avery plays several roles in the life of the Glen. She is mother to the first children born already cursed, which takes up most of her time. She also acts as an assistant healer and herbalist. Most of the women in the Glen look up to her as a role model. |
Avery, BrianSpecies: Grey SquirrelCreator: Charles MatthiasLord Brian Avery has been the liege of the Glen since the Battle of Three Gates when his father and older brother were killed in battle. He was engaged to Angela at the time, and it was luck that they both became grey squirrels. Few nobles can claim to be on a first name basis with their subjects. Brian Avery is one such noble, a fact that he prides himself on. He is not above spending a night drinking with the common labourers in the brewery, a habit his wife has unsuccessfully tried to make him break. |
Avery, ChristoperSpecies: Grey SquirrelCreator: Charles MatthiasBorn only half an hour before his brother, Christopher is one of the twin heirs to the Glen. He is only six years old, but in mind and in body he appears to be ten or eleven. Precocious, he is eager to learn the ways of the ruler so that he might do a good job when he follows in his father's foot steps. He is still very rambunctious though, as he and his brother are often to be found jumping from branch to branch like common squirrels. |
Avery, DarienSpecies: Grey SquirrelCreator: Charles MatthiasDarien is the younger of the twins, though no less excitable and energetic than his older brother. He too wants to be able to be a wise ruler should the title fall to him, but he knows that no matter what happens, he will always be close to his brother both as advisor and friend. It is rumoured that he is slightly more mischievous, but few even at the Glen can tell them enough apart to be sure. |
BaerleSpecies: OpossumCreator: Charles MatthiasBaerle was born in Mycransburg, but left for Glen Avery after her father finally passed away. She joined the archers, and for a time was in an intimate relationship with Berchem. But Berchem rejected her when she discovered that she was barren. During the Winter Assualt, she accompanied Charles to destroy the bridge. There, she became infatuated with him, unaware that he was engaged to be married already. When she learned the truth, she slapped him and fled. AFter Charles and Kimberly moved to the Glen, Baerle became a sister to Kimberly, and then became their wet nurse. Baerle is still in love with Charles, and after a painful admission to Kimberly, she has been given permission to pursue him for one year. |
BerchemSpecies: SkunkCreator: Charles MatthiasThe Glen's sole skunk is the captain of the archers. He holds this position because of his skill with the bow which is unrivaled in the Glen. Berchem rarely ever speaks ill of another before others, but one on one he is quite willing to speak his mind. He had a relationship with Baerle last year that ended by his choosing when he discovered that she was barren. He wanted a child more than he wanted her, and so cast her out. He has yet to find another for his affections. |
Blaylock, AbigailSpecies: OcelotCreator: Charles MatthiasAbigail is a friendly woman who has not yet had any children of her own. She spends most of her days in the General store that her husband runs. She also advises Glenners that come to the store the true price of everything that they buy, much to her husband's consternation. |
Blaylock, FrederickSpecies: LynxCreator: Charles MatthiasFrederick Blaylock owns the Glen's General Store, and he spends most of his days there. He is generally friendly, but is also stubborn and a bit greedy. He tries to make as much as he can from every purchase, though his wife restrains him. In truth, he rather likes it when she does that, so sometimes he will inflate his prices just to get a rise out of her. |
BurrisSpecies: WoodpeckerCreator: Charles MatthiasBurris is a wood mage. He has the ability to shape wood and trees according to his will, and imbue the wood with magical energy if he should desire. Burris uses this ability to fashion homes for Glenners within the mighty trees that frame the Glen for a reasonable fee. He is also a Healer, though only called upon during the most important of times (such as childbirth). |
FellenSpecies: ErmineCreator: Charles MatthiasFellen was originally from Lorland, but moved to the Glen last year after Altera Loriod was killed. He is now a scout for the Glen. His weapon of choice is the mein gauche. |
GariganSpecies: FerretCreator: Charles MatthiasGarigan was born in the Glen, and was also born a Sondecki. Because of this, he grew angrier and more surly as he grew older, until Charles met him last year and began to train him. Garigan had to leave with Charles to go to Metamor. Garigan progressed quickly in the art of the Sondeck, and by the beginning of Winter had already reached the rank of Green. After Winter Assault, Garigan returned with Charles to the Glen, and has taken up his duties of scout once more. He still continues to train as a Sondecki though. |
GibsonSpecies: FrogCreator: Charles MatthiasGibson is one of the Glen's merchants. He routinely travels to Metamor Keep and other cities in the valley to barter for wares unavailable in the Glen. He gave his house to Charles and Kimberly after they moved to the Glen and now lives down near the lake. |

Hasgkenn, LarsSpecies: Grizzly BearCreator: Charles MatthiasLars owns a brewery that is built into the base of one of the fingers of rock on the western edge of the Glen. His wine and mead are famous in the valley, and he routinely sells a good bit to Metamor and other towns. He favours the folk of the Glen though, and has made several special concoctions that he only serves to them (such as his Caribou that he makes for the Vernal Equinox). |
JamesSpecies: DonkeyCreator: Charles MatthiasJames is a newcomer to the Glen, having moved here with Charles. He grew up in Metamor, but the life that he knew and almost every one that he knew was destroyed in the Winter Assualt. Charles befriended him and invited him along, and James has become devoted to Charles since. James works in the Inn one day, the Brewery the next, and in between he trains to be a guard for the Glen, as well as doing odd chores for the Matthias family. |
JoSpecies: Red FoxCreator: Joanne Valentine-CooperThough her name is Joanne, most call the Glen's healer Jo. She is in charge of the Apothecary, and has come to enjoy her far simpler life here in the Glen. She does take special interest in certain Glenners who require her attention far more than others. |

KevinSpecies: SparrowCreator: Joanne Valentine-CooperKevin is one of the Glen's scouts, and has also become a bit of a messenger since his transformation. He helped Mrs. Levins find the strawberries for one of her most special pies. |
Levins, AnnetteSpecies: HedgehogCreator: Charles MatthiasOnly very few call this grandmotherly hedgehog Annette. To most of the Glen she is known as Mrs. Levins, the baker of the finest pies and pastries to be found anywhere in the Valley. Mrs. Levins lost her children during the Battle of Three Gates, and since has considered all the Glen as her family. It is not unusual to have her burst in unexpectedly bearing a tray ladled with tasty treats. |
Levins, WalterSpecies: Female HumanCreator: Charles MatthiasWalter is one of the few in the Glen to have suffered the gender curse. Walter is the Glen's tailor, and for many years afterwards has become a sullen bitter recluse. She has softened some since the Winter Assualt after discovering that she was not weak as a woman. She has also taken in a child that was left without parents and that has helped her greatly. Discovering that she has a nephew in Murikeer Khannas has been a great blessing to her as well. The ice that she once cloaked herself with has finally cracked. |
MarcusSpecies: Pine MartenCreator: Joanne Valentine-CooperMarcus has recently become a scout for the Glen. Even before he became musteline, he was one of the most troublesome kids, being a natural prankster who always had to be involved in whatever fun the grownups were doing. He always looked up to Garigan, even more so now that the ferret has returned. He is completely irrepresible in his enthusiasm, and has attempted on several occasions to out race the Avery twins in the trees, so far unsuccessfully. But he knows that if he races just one more time, he'll beat em. At least that is what he thinks! |
Matthias, CharlesSpecies: RatCreator: Charles MatthiasCharles came to Metamor Keep six years ago of his own volition. Shortly thereafter he managed to get the Writer's Guild organized. He was the primary Headmaster. He took a vow of nonviolence though was forced to break it, leading to a near attack on the Duke, a brief stay in the dungeon, and living as a searat on a schooner from Whales. After an adventure off at Glen Avery, he joined the Long Scouts, and began to instruct Garigan in the art of the Sondeckis. During the winter assault, he teamed with Jerome and Zagrosek in defending the Glen, a move that led to his banishment from the Keep for five months. He subsequently married Kimberly and moved to Glen Avery.

Matthias, KimberlySpecies: RatCreator: Charles MatthiasKimberly fled the land of Brathas, a small barony to the west along the seashore, when her parents, the servants of the local baron, made an arrangement to marry her to a local lord. She managed to hire some of the baron's men who were not fond of her husband-to-be to escort her as far as they could go. While riding through the mountains they were waylaid by a band of Lutins, and had to stop at Metamor Keep. Kimberly decided to stay knowing that her husband-to-be would never come for her there. Becoming a rat however had been very frightening, but with the help of Charles Matthias she has overcome her reservations. She has now fallen in love with and married him. While living at the Keep she worked as part of the general maintenance staff, cooking, cleaning, and assisting in the castle. Now that she has moved to Glen Avery, she has become a mother of five small baby rats, named Charles, Bernadette, Erick, Baerle, and Ladero. |

Sapere, KinsleeSpecies: DeerCreator: Charles MatthiasKinslee Sapere is the Innkeeper's wife. She assists in the day to day running of the Inn. She is a bit introverted, and does not socialize much, but word leaked anyway in late Spring of her pregnancy. |

He was a childhood friend of Garigan's, and before the curse made Shelley a man, he and Garigan had feelings for each other. Shelley was killed by lutins in the first wave of attack during Winter Assault. |
