Adlemas

Species: Untransformed Human

Adlemas is one of the older married men. He is too large for any tumbling, but he can sing falsetto very well, and often dresses as a man become a woman in the paegents the Magyars do of Metamor.

Amile

Species: Untransformed Human

Creator: Charles Matthias

Amile is an acrobat, tumbler, and juggler all rolle dinto a tightly wound package of energy and confidence. She has always been a bit of a tom boy, and relishes that role. She is in love with Pelgan, and he with her, but she will never quite say it like that. She now accompanies Nemgas on his journey to Yesulam.

Berkon

Species: Untransformed Human

Creator: Charles Matthias

Berkon is one of the young bachelors that lives in the bachelor's wagon. He is also an archer. He plays one of the monsters in the pageant. He has now accompanied Nemgas on his mission to Yesulam.

Bryone

Species: Untransformed Human

Creator: Charles Matthias

Bryone is the seer's assistant. In time, she too will become a seer and card reader. She has very little confidence though, and this manifests itself as her shy weak behaviour. She cares deeply for the seer though, and would do anything that Dazheen asks of her.

Chamag

Species: Untransformed Human

Creator: Charles Matthias

Chamag is one of the bachelors - the largest and most burly of them all. He favours the axe and is quite skilled with it. He plays the role of a Keeper turned into a certain axe-wielding fox in the pageant. He accompanies Nemgas on the mission to Yesulam.

Dazheen

Species: Untransformed Human

Creator: Charles Matthias

Dazheen is a very old woman. She is the seer for the Magyars, and Hanaman will often go to her for advice. Dazheen allows others to come see her though from time to time when there are questions of rgave importance to them. Mostly this is just about who they should marry, or how to woo a certain young someone. Dazheen is content to answer such riddles. However, her cards have begun to betray her, showing the face of a man, a man who now controls her very cards. After Nemgas left with his group, the cards attacked her, blinding her eyes. She can still feel the cards though, even when they are locked away.

Gamran

Species: Untransformed Human

Creator: Charles Matthias

Gamran is an outright thief. He was not born a Magyar, but become one by choice many years ago after he had a falling out with his thieves guild. He loves being a Magyar, and actsa s if that were always the case. This does mean though that he pays closer attention to those who become Magyars. He likes to help them make the transition. Gamran never steals from his fellow Magyars either, except to help them learn the art of thieving. He is smitted by Thelia, and can act quite clumsily aroudn her. He is saddened though that he must leave her as he accompanies Nemgas on his trek to Yesulam.

Gelel

Species: Untransformed Human

Gelel is not yet old enough to be eligible for marriage. But he is precocious, and after watching his closest friend die at the hand of the Driheli, is ready to strike back. He accompanies Nemgas on his journey to Yesulam.

Grastalko

Species: Untransformed Human

Creator: Charles Matthias

Grastalko was born Golonka of Stuthgansk. He joined the Driheli a couple of years ago because he felt that was what he ought to do. He was captured by the Magyars after his knight was killed. After he confessed all that he knew, he was given Magyar clothes and made to wear them, as well as the Magyar name Grastalko. It took him a while before he accepted this and realized that he could also be happy being a Magyar. He made friends with Gamran, but it was Nemgas that occupied his thoughts. He choose to be a Magyar in the end when he realized that was how he could best show honour and live up to the ideals he held. His left hand was burned when he grasped the golden blade that slew the Patriarch, but an illusion masks the damage.

Hanalko Deceased

Species: Untransformed Human

Creator: Charles Matthias

Hanalko was Hanaman's first born son. He was almost old enough to begin courtship when he was pushed off the edge of a precipice by a Driheli knight and slain. His body has been embalmed for a time when it can be properly buried in the Steppe.

Hanaman

Species: Untransformed Human

Creator: Charles Matthias

Hanaman is the leader of the Magyars. An older man with greying hair and a commanding presence, his manner is always followed and his decisions always respected. He takes his duty to lead the Magyars seriously, but also their traditions. He makes changes to their path around the Steppe only under the direst need. He now leads the Magyars into the uncharted lands east of the Vysehrad.

Holbar Deceased

Species: Full Bear

Creator: Charles Matthias

Holbar lived in the days of legends. He was friend to the great Magyar Shapurji and he was the strongest Magyar to ever live. As punishment for transgressions, he was turned into a bear. It is rumoured that he still wanders the forest of Åelfwood to this day.

Kaspel

Species: Untransformed Human

Creator: Charles Matthias

Kaspel is one of the bachelors in the bachelor's wagon. He is friend to Nemgas, and accompanies him on the journey to Yesulam.

Khiakos

Species: Full Otter

Creator: Charles Matthias

Khiakos was one of the legendary friends to Shapurji. He was a great swimmer, one who could outrace the mightiest of fish (back in the days when the rivers of the Steppe were still large). For his transgressions he became an otter and was banished to the rivers of Åelfwood.

Kisaiya

Species: Untransformed Human

Creator: Charles Matthias

Kisaiya tends to the Assingh, the great donkey-like beasts that pull the Magyar wagons. Other unmarried women threw themselves at Nemgas's feet when he returned from the mountain Cenziga. But not Kisaiya. And for that, she gained his interest. She did not want to, but she fell in love with him anyway, and now stoicly mourns their parting.

Nagel

Species: Untransformed Human

Creator: Charles Matthias

Nagel is an older Magyar, though still vibrant. He is tall and gaunt, and so plays the wizard Nasoj in the pageant. He is also a contortionist of great skill. And he serves as one of Hanaman's closest advisors.

Nemgas

Species: Untransformed Human

Creator: Charles Matthias

Nemgas is unique in all the world. Until Kashin climbed Cenziga, Nemgas was just a personality bubbling in the back of Kashin's head. But upon Cenziga, Nemgas was brought into the flesh just as Kashin was killed. Nemgas rememberes being born amongst the Magyars, growing up with them, and growing into adulthood. All of his memories actually happened, and the other Magyars remember them too. Yet, without Kasin's act, none of it would be. Nemgas struggles with this fact, even as he struggles to save the boy Pelurji, the one whom he feels is his son. To do this, he seeks to destroy the same evil that Kashin sought to destroy. He now journeys to Yesulam to where the evil lies.

Pelgan

Species: Untransformed Human

Creator: Charles Matthias

Pelgan is one of the bachelors, though he has found a woman that he courts regularly, so he may not be a bachelor for too much longer. He loves Amile, and it is rumoured that they will be wed soon. However, it will not occur until they both return from Yesulam. Pelgan's favoured weapon is the knife. He juggles also.

Pelurji

Species: Untransformed Human

Creator: Charles Matthias

Named for the great hero of Cheskych, Pelain, and the hero of the Magyars, Shapurji, Pelurji seems to be a boy of destiny. He joined the Magyars after meeting Nemgas and being shown how to juggle. His older brother stayed behind after helping Pelurji run off to join them. Pelurji and Nemgas explored the ancient city of Carethedor together, though only Pelurji was able to lead them to the centre where the remains of the dead dragon and the grave of Pelain lay. When the dragon came back to life, it was Pelurji who took up Pelain's sword Caur-Merripen and slayed both the dragon but also the Knight Commander Sir Lech Poznan. However, in slaying the dragon, Pelurji was struck by a rock and wounded in a way that could not be healed while the evil that caused it still filled the world. He now lays quietly in one of the wagons, unable even to wake.

Pitesa

Species: Untransformed Human

Pitesa is married to Adlemas. She is the cobbler for the Magyars, and spends most of her day either making or repairing boots and shoes.

Roami Deceased

Species: Full Stag

Creator: Charles Matthias

Roami was one of the Magyars of legend. Being the fastest runner, for his transgressions he was turned into a stag.

Shapurji Deceased

Species: Tree

Creator: Charles Matthias

Shapurji is the greatest Magyar to have ever lived, or so the legends say. Almost all Magyar stories about themselves involve Shapurji in some way. In his final accounting, he dared to chop down one of the trees of the Åelfwood, and for his crime, he and his four friends were transformed. Shapurji became rooted to the stump of the tree he felled, and grew into a mighty oak. His face, saddened by his sin, can be seen in the bark.

Sorab Deceased

Species: Full Raccoon

Creator: Charles Matthias

Sorab was one of the friends of Shapurji. He was a clever thief, one who could steal a hawk's eggs while the mother sat upon the nest. For his crime, he was turned into a raccoon.

Thelia

Species: Untransformed Human

Creator: Charles Matthias

Thelia is one of the seamstresses for the Magyars. She is smitten by Gamran, and loves making the little thief things to wear such as scarfs or hats.

Varna

Species: Untransformed Human

Creator: Charles Matthias

Varna is the Magyar's cook, and spends most of her time by her pots and fires making up the stews that serve as their usual fare.

Zhenava

Species: Untransformed Human

Creator: Charles Matthias

Zhenava is Hanaman's wife. She leads just as much as he does, though in more subtle ways. The women all look up to her and can respond to unspoken commands in a heart beat. Zhenava is also an exotic dancer, and routinely performs her enticing dances. Quite a few of the Magyar men will stare in awe at her body as she dances, but they will never ever dare try to touch her.
