Financial Aid Unit Suspension Status

Journal started Aug 23, 2005

You have been placed on Financial Aid Unit Suspension Status because you have now exceeded 90 attempted units, which is the maximum units allowed... per federal regulations.... In order to be considered for any further financial aid at Las Positas in the future, you must file an Excessive Units Petition, which requires.... Petitions are granted on a case by case basis...financial aid is only provided for courses which meet the requirements as determined by the academic counselor

Just to warn any college furs, these are the kind of letters I get in the mail. This despite several college counselors, Financial Aid counselors, and the reception lady saying that the only Financial Aid they can deny me based on the notion I'm a worthless dirty hippie who can't get a job, is the Pell Grant. I still (supposedly) get the Fee Waiver and qualify for Work STudy. But now I get letters saying I can't get any Financial Aid unless I submit a petition begging them to let me continue, and pledging to complete only the classes I need for my definite and clear goals.

I have such goals of course, since I am now a responsible individual who doesn't think of such foolish notions that school is anything but an engine of cold efficiency to train me as a low class laborer and I dare not even whisper the wistful hopeful tones of "enrichment?"

I'm going to be shaking this letter in their faces let me tell you. Unfortunately the waiting period for a Counseling appointment is about 2 weeks on average, for a 30 minute session. But come August 31, I'm going to be very upset with them, trying to deny me the financial aid I need to get my transfer requirements for Computer Science.

I hate bureaucracies... this kind of crap is why I was tricked into thinking I couldn't attend school anymore back in 2002. Nothing but smiles and stabs in the back, bald lies and budget cuts. No child left behind? How about no college left behind!
