Job Applications

Journal started Oct 18, 2006

Gods... I haven't worked in 3 years. I've been broken for 3 years, how sad is that. Worse still is the lack of paid employment. That means I am not allowed the freedom to move, to use land, to purchase supplies. If not for my owner I wouldn't even have food and shelter. And what am I supposed to do? I mean seriously, I could use a little help here. When faced with employment ads like these:

All interested please apply if:
  • You are pro-choice
  • You are seeking full time employment
  • You are a team player with good organizational and time management skills
  • You are computer competent
  • You have a valid driver's license with use of a vehicle

I just see nothing but red alerts that make it 100% clear that I'll never get that job no matter if I even bother to apply. So where do I get a job that doesn't require you to drive, doesn't require you to have a 4 year degree, doesn't require you to have commensurate experience, doesn't require anything besides your support and willingness? I can flub some requirements, pretending I can overcome the interviewers with my strength of personality, but things as cut and dried as "You must have a valid driver's license" how am I supposed to explain to the pig nosed beady eyed managers with all the money and wealth that I can perfectly well take the bus? I've tried before and they're just like... it's an instant chill and I say, "I can take the 1:30 bus to get to the 2:30 train which arrives at 3:45 and I'll be to your office by 4," and they're like, "You need to be there by 9am. If you can't meet us halfway you'll have to look somewhere else." Or worse, they say nothing at all... I've had job counselors tell me with a straight face, "Well, we can... you just need to have the right attitude, you'll find something soon" because they were faced with something not even they could fix.
