Exploring those with a deft touch makes for much better reading -- more conflict, more chance for character development. Like your, enfuego's, and Anonymous51's best work, a reader gets to watch as someone voluntarily and involuntarily adapts to sudden alterations of their entire lives, without any wham-bam magic to make it too pat.
