I think part of the reason is that, with this subject matter, it can be easy to devolve into formula. Guy becomes girl, then goes through the long process of "adjustment," usually with the same results. Awkwardly learning to walk in heels, putting on makeup, and so on. Instead, I think you've done us all a favor by skipping all of that stuff, and getting into a much more interesting conflict. I also think you have a terrific knack for getting into characters' heads. I particularly love how you've portrayed Jon/Paige. He still has a sense of who he is, but it's been warped by going through the height of puberty under the tutelage of Sarah McMillan and her mother. You've really captured the the sense of "what is it like to actually, naturally think like that?" which is something I really enjoy. I'm looking forward to see what else is in store for Paige... | |
